aka our annual summer trip to Wellesley. This year it was Maddie and I for the first couple days. We got to spend quality time with Melinda and “Ga” and “Ga” – that would be Gamma and Gampa. Then half way through the trip Jim and Christina came up. We all ate a ton of food, had a ton of fun, and played a little golf. Before Jim and Christina got there Maddie, Gamma and I went to the aquarium to see the “ishies” and sharks. We had a ton of fun, 5 hours, 2 penguins and one t-shirt souvenir kind of fun. Here are some pictures from the aquarium:
Maddie waving to the shark.
Maddie trying to “tickle” the sea urchin.
The sea lion show.
Ohh the penguins – just ask Maddie how to do the “shiver.”
Then, like we hadn’t had enough fun and heat, we spent some quality pool time, all of us! Jim is pretty famous for his cannonballs, and Maddie was itching to get wet, so . . . .
Phew, they all made it!
Did I mention we played a little golf too? Well, I didn’t get any pictures of the big kids, but I did get Maddie and Gampa after dinner one night “putting.”
And that concludes the photo version of our trip “home.”

Bike Race Weekend
Downtown Roanoke had a bike race this weekend that Donny got to take part in. We missed Saturdays hill climb, but Donny competed in Sunday and Monday’s race. He came in 6th Sunday and 1st on Monday!! We had such a blast cheering for him – although it was hot – but nonetheless fun! Maddie took an unexpected dunk in the kiddie/beverage pool Sunday, and, the Mayne family came out to support Donny on Monday. Mimi also go to see her first bike race too.
Sunday’s Race:
Pre Pool Dunk
Post Pool Dunk
Monday’s 4th of July Race:

”Go Dada!”

Happy Birthday Sweet Emery
We were so bummed to leave to beach but super excited to come home and head over to celebrate Emery turning 1! April, you did such an amazing job with the party – we all had a blast. Especially Maddie, since she was down to her diaper by the time we left (Emery may have gotten a water table for her birthday). Head over to Aprils blog for some adorable pix. For now I am going to steal my fave off her site (maybe because we gave her the hat) and my fave photo booth pic.
Look at the sweet girl. When I saw the hat at Two-and-a-Half-Sisters, I had to get it for her.
Maddie’s birthday message to Emery:
Litchfield Beach Week
Who needed a vacation? We did! This was our first real family vacation where we would just get to bum around in the ocean and really do nothing but relax! Also, it’s Donny’s only vacation this summer, so I was so excited to kick back with him! I won’t write to much because, if you can imagine, I have a zillion photos. Yes, I swam in the ocean. Yes, Maddie swam in the ocean – and liked it. Even more surprising, yes, Donny swam in the ocean – and kind of liked it. Maddie played in the sand, collected shells, starfish and watched us all catch baby sharks early in the morning. We had such a blast. The pictures say it all!
