Bath time how we love you!

Oh how we love taking our baths! Maddie loves to take her bath, just not at night because it keeps her awake long after her feeding. The tub fits perfectly in our new kitchen sink and the spray function of the faucet works perfectly when we do our final rinse. We have to thank cousin Kimberley for both the bathtub and the cute little frog towel featured here, we love them

Mom why is this camera always in my face!

Who can help but take pictures of their little baby? Certainly not me!

Tummy Time!

Not that I am biased or anything, but isn't this just the cutest picture you have ever seen?Maddie loves to play on her tummy, just not on a full one. She loves to practice doing her push-ups just like Uncle Rick showed her. No more videos of her rolling over because she does it so quick when I put her down I don't have time to get a camera going, sneaky girl!

1 Month Check-up

We went today for our 1 month checkup and we are really an all-star! I was a little concerned about her weight since we had had some gaining issues in the past, but Maddie is doing great. She doesn't mind being stripped down to nothing but a little towel to be weighed and measured. She also doesn't mind the doctor sitting her up or moving her around and being checked out. Maddie weighed in at 9lbs 13oz! She gained 13oz in 10 days, whoa baby. She is now 21" long (20" at birth) and her head circumference is 14.25, up from the 13.5 (ouch) at birth. She is growing like a champ. The doctor said it was ok to start supplementing with our feedings a couple times a day if it became necessary. She was also very impressed with Maddie's new talent of rolling over. We don't go back to the doctor until 2 months when we will get our first round of shots.

1 Month Old!

Oh my! One month old, how time flies! Well, I have the cutest pictures of my little one month old baby girl, and we have another milestone to share....we can roll over! That's right everyone, we have an athlete on our hands, like there was ever any doubt. We can roll from our stomach (tummy time) to our back. We have done the roll three times and I have captured it via video once which I will post. Here are some photos of our growing girl.

Tummy time! Taking a break from working those muscles to munch on my arm.

Who is this?

What is this animal and why are you in my room?

Weeks 3 & 4

The leaving of Gramma and Grampa was very sad at the end of our two weeks. However, for the next two weeks Uncle Rick was in town to help out and play! We had lots of fun doing all kinds of trips to the grocery store, shopping and even playing some golf! We would joke of course that Maddie would think that we would never have taken her anywhere because she sleeps everywhere we go! Her first round of golf seen below, slept the whole time. The second round of golf later that week, again, slept the whole time. I even got a chance to play a round of nine with Uncle Rick and Jim, slept most of the round.

We did have tons of fun with Uncle Rick though. He got to change his first diaper, not a messy one though. Directly following this he got to do his first feeding. This was then followed by his first poopy experience. I mean poop through the diaper, out the side, through the onesie and onto Rick's shorts. I wish I had the picture I have on my phone to show, I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. Although for a 'just given birth a couple weeks ago' mama that isn't saying much, but it really was hilarious. Rick also liked to have her do some dances and other odd things that only your crazy uncles would do.

We thoroughly enjoyed having Rick stay with us. He was a great help and I think we all had tons of fun. We are going to miss you Uncle Rick while you are up at school but, we will see you in a month!

Bath Time!

It was very exciting when the umbilical stump fell off because that meant that Maddie could have a real bath in her real little tub in the sink. Of course I kept the little stump, although not quite sure what I am going to do with it quite yet other than keep it in the little Ziploc baggie. She lost her stump at two weeks exactly. Before when we had to do the sponge baths she hated all the parts except when we would do her hair, she would love it. Now that we are taking "big girl baths" she loves the whole thing. Just sitting soaking in the water, and of course the hair, I mean look at that face!

Weeks 1 & 2

We can't believe that two weeks has already gone! We have already done so much in just these past couple weeks! We have been doing our sponge baths, see the picture below. We don't really know what to make of these yet. We definitely do not like being cold in between washing of areas, so we try and wrap up as much as possible. Sometimes we get very upset and poop on our nice towel :). Her favorite part by far is when we wash her hair. We turn the faucet on the spray and dip her head underneath just like at the hairdresser, she loves it!

We also like to sleep on Gramma! This is from one of those days this past week when it was so hot out (80s!) and it was equally as warm in the house. So how else to keep a baby cool and look cool than to hang out in your onesie!
We also love to hang out with dad since he is home! They love to sit on the couch and cuddle and watch soccer and cycling. Look at all that hair and those big blue eyes!
We have also tried to include a couple naps in our crib although she sleeps in the bassinet at night. She looks so tiny when she is in the crib! Here we are just sleeping like a baby with out paci and our favorite blanket that Gramma made for her.
So far everyone is doing great. Maddie is feeding every 2-3 hours and doing well sleeping in the night. She usually just wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep if not in the middle of feeding. We are also so spoiled because my mom (Gramma) is staying with us for these two weeks. She has been helping us get settled with this new little one by helping with food, laundry etc. We are definitely going to miss her when she goes back home!

Smile!

...we follow this little girl around with a camera in hand everywhere we go. So, we were so excited when we captured this little sleep smile on camera. Look at those little pudge cheeks!
