Volleyball

After Maddie's baptism we went and played volleyball at GREAT Aunt Bonnie and GREAT Uncle Allan's house. As usual we had a fabulous time playing, eating, joking around, etc. I just wanted to include this picture of Maddie and Allan having some quality time together.

Maddie's Baptism

Maddie was baptised at Second Presbyterian Church on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. She wore the same dress that my brothers, sister and myself were all baptised in. Of course we wore our dress undies under our fancy dress - and, we didn't want to get any food or such on our dress so Maddie ate in her undies. After feasting on her bottle she moved on to her new favorite thing, eating her hand.

After eating it was ready to go! Here is Maddie all dressed in her gown - so fancy! She obviously had the mohawk going on the whole day, even after the water. Also she is wearing her little pearl bracelet from Grandma Babs.
Here we are after the ceremony. Maddie was so amazing the whole time and was such a show off. After her "time to shine" she slept through the whole sermon and the rest of the service - she was wiped out!
After the service we had a nice lunch at Babs & Don's house. Here is a picture of the family after lunch - Maddie sleeping yet again...

Festival in the Park - Our First Concert

For Memorial Day weekend the city always has Festival in the Park downtown where they have bands and other artists come to play at night. Saturday night they were having Sister Hazel come - you may remember them? They had some good hits while we were in middle/high school. We decided that the three of us would go and we also convinced Tammy and Ryan to come - they came without their boys. The concert was so much fun, it was such a nice night to get out and just relax. Here are some pictures of the night.

Here is Maddie and Donny at the beginning of the concert...

Here is Maddie and Donny at the end of the concert...
After the concert was over we let everyone clear out of the area and we just chilled and relaxed since it was such a nice night out. The some guy on a golf cart came by and informed us that we did in fact have to leave because they had to clean up the area. At this time we saw that the autograph line was short and dwindling so we decided to go get an autograph. When we walked up Ken (lead singer) said "no, I will not sign your baby," to which I responded "oh, I know. Will you sign her onesie?" So here he is signing away. He wrote "Maddie, Welcome to the world! Love Ken, Sister Hazel"

Ahh yes, and the group picture of course! Maddie, still sleeping away.
In case you are having trouble remembering the group, try this video, you probably know the song...

2 Month Check Up

Went for our two month check-up today and Maddie is doing great! She is in the 50th percentile for weight, height and head circumference. She now weighs in at 11lbs 4oz! We also got out shots today- one oral and three in the leg. When the nurse would give her the oral one Maddie would take it in one side of her mouth and spit it out the other side. The nurse would then suck up the drool and put it in the other side of her mouth and Maddie would spit it back out the other - it was hilarious. Needless to say she screamed but she was asleep in her carseat by the time we got to the front desk. She really was a champ and slept and did well the rest of the day. The hardest part is that she got shots on either side of her legs so when I hold her to feed her she would just cry because it would be hurting her. Poor baby!

Happy Birthday Aunt Melinda!

Happy 22nd Birthday!! Since I don't have any pictures of you two together I figured I would post a picture that you would enjoy! Here is Maddie chillin on a lounge chair just like you were in Myrtle Beach. She is obviously loving it and soaking it up just like you! Love you, miss you, see you in a couple weeks!

Testing out the waters...Week 8

Since we happened to be in Myrtle Beach for Uncle Jim & (now!) Aunt Christina's wedding I figured Maddie should probably test out the amenities our amazing hotel had to offer. Did I pack a bathing suit for Miss Maddie? Of course not. So, I just dressed her in a cute onesie tank top and plopped her in. It actually worked out nice because it was only a thousand degrees out and it was hot even in the slivers of shade that we could find for her.

Here we are testing out the kiddie pool. Maddie touched the bottom! She got we all the way up to her belly button.
Here we are post-pool obviously worn out. We have all the baby essentials here: sleepy baby, new diaper, wipes, adorable sun hat, sun glasses - we were prepared. And yes, I did let her sleep there with the onesie pulled up since it was wet, no sense in wetting the diaper again.

Our next adventure after our nap and after lunch was to tackle the ocean. It was actually fairly warm, but even still, we only dipped in our toes. Gramma was on camera duty and she captured some great pictures. These are some where you can see her face since with the wind combined with my attempt to block her from the sun, sometimes you couldn't always see her face - just a white bonnet.
....testing out the Atlantic waters....

We had a great time at our stay and of course the wedding was amazing! Maddie got to dance with tons of people including the groom a couple times! Congrats and best wishes to the happy couple, we cannot wait to see you back here in Roanoke! Once the photographer gets up some pictures I will post a link to those. I brought my camera to the wedding but had far to much fun, aka I never left the dance floor, to take any pictures.

So you think I don't make noise??

This post is for everyone at Donny's work who thinks that Maddie is a sleeping angel all the time. Most of the time she is, but you can tell from these pictures that she sometimes has something to say. So, Wells Fargo/Wachovia/Commercial Banking/Cheesecake, coffee cake eating group...here you go

Jim & Christina's Rehearsal Dinner

I figured I would make a slide show/movie with the pictures that I have rather than posting them. We had such an amazing time at the dinner. My mom did a fabulous job, the food, the cake, the golf balls (the mints...) were all delicious. We all had a great time finally being together and having a chance to unwind. Enjoy the show!

We've got a talker!

Maddie has been talking/cooing for a while now, but trying to get it on video it not so easy. I would have had a longer clip but I had filled my memory card with all the pictures and video (how odd?).

Things I can do now . . . week 7

We love to go and visit Donny at work and wear all our cute things, like this hat. Of course she likes to sleep when we are there and no one believes us that she actually makes noise or fusses.

Maddie loves to look super cute in all her new outfits. She also doesn't mind getting her picture taken, which is a good thing since I take her picture everyday! I have to keep you all updated.

Maddie also doesn't mind sharing her toys with the other animals in house. Nike doesn't care about the potential "edibles" dangling from the thing he just wants to lay on it because the rug is far too uncomfortable.
Maddie also loves to play and sit in the Bumbo chair. Maddie likes the be able to look around at everything and everyone. She also loves to put a vice grip on her rattle and fling that around too. Sometimes we can't get it out of her hand and she either tries to eat it or has to hold it while she is eating.

Going out golfing

We decided we would go out and visit Uncle Jim at their big golf tournament over at Roanoke Country Club. Maddie would be able to stroll on the cart paths and we would get in a nice walk. Well, it happened to be only five hundred degrees out that day so we walked shorter distances and in the shade. Either way Maddie loved her big hat and being out in the fresh air.

Week 6 in pictures

I have officially found some outfits that we are going to very quickly outgrow. This is one of them. The pudge look is what I call this, look at those cheeks, wow!
This is one of the outfits we picked out when Aunt Melinda was here. Obviously it is one of Donny's favorites, although, he pretty much loves everything that she wears these days. Also, Maddie loves to suck on her fingers, sometimes they get in the way of the actual bottle. Caught her suckin that thumb!
And finally, some of the new faces we have been working on. Maddie has been smiling for a week or so now, but, it is so hard to catch on camera. Here is what I have to work with for now.

Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!!

This was my first mother's day this year and it was great! Little Miss Maddie was such a good girl - she went shopping with dad to get my gift this morning and helped to wrap it. They picked out a new camera for me! Donny said it was to help take even more pictures and so that I would be able to post them on my blog. We had a great day and had a mother's day dinner over at Bobbie and Pop's house where all us ladies got to sit and have dinner cooked for us. Here is how the day progressed: sleep, eat, more sleep.

(asleep in the swing, hence the blur)

Naked Baby!

Well, almost. I didn't want her to get any food on her dress so she ate in her underpants. See how focused she is looking up at Donny. This was right before she spit up on his dress pants (haha), I warned him! Nothing a little dry cleaning can't fix.

Oh, and the bib says "I am the boss" - so true.

Week 5 in pictures

Here are a couple things we have been up to this week. It has been pretty warm, so some days Maddie gets to rock around the house in just her onesie, it makes Donny jealous. We go for walks just about everyday in the morning when it is cooler out. Maddie loves to go for the walks, she gets mad usually when we stop. These bumpy city sidewalks do not bother her a bit either.

Here is Maddie sporting her first dress (from Aunt Carlie). It was warm enough we didn't need to wear anything underneath!

New shoes! Thanks to the Laucks who sent us these adorable little booties. They fit great too which has been a problem since little missy has some good size feet. So cute!

Playing with my play gym! Maddie loves to look at the lights that flash and swat at some of the toys and watch them move. I don't quite think she can do it on purpose, but she likes watching them swing anyways.
Other fun things this week - Maddie likes to talk to you. She first started cooing and "talking" to Donny last Saturday, it's so cute. She also "smiles" more. I have not caught a true big smile yet on camera. Keep checking back to see what we are up to next week!

Priceless

Daddy,
Sometimes I fuss when I can't sleep so you will pick me up and let me sleep with you...

Thanks daddy!
Love,
Maddie

Happy Birthday Uncle Jim!

Remember when we were both this young? Well, Maddie was only a couple days old, and well, Jim you were five weeks younger too!

We hope that you have a great birthday Jim! And, if you are lucky Maddie might flash her new *smile* at you at dinner.
