Chuck E Cheese Please!

When we were asked if we wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese for some pizza and rides, we said you bet! Maddie hadn’t been since she was, oh, four months old? And, I’m not sure how much she enjoyed it then. I wouldn’t say she had a blast but there is only so much an almost one year old (yikes!) can do.

Who’s driving this thing anyways??

Oh, and Barney was there too.

Maddie vs. the Strawberry

Lunch time is always amusing, and today did not disappoint. She had some of her usual mac n cheese and some fruit and turkey. Maddie, if you can imagine, goes in waves of foods she really likes. Strawberries used to be something we liked, then kinda sorta liked. So today while I was cleaning up everything I gave her a huge whole strawberry to amuse herself with. Here is what happened. . .

First, inspect the strawberry.


Second, smile with strawberry.


Third, eat and destroy strawberry.


And fourth, enjoy the mess made with strawberry!

Funny Faces

Maddie has some pretty funny faces she likes to make including the nose scrunch. Of course they are usually blurry because she is moving and/or shaking her head or arms. Either way, here are some:

Maddie’s Car

As you may of may not know I love to frequent the consignment sales that come through the area. By this I mean we (at least April and I) go the first day and buy “must haves.” Toys/gear first and then super adorable clothing we are willing to pay “full price” for. Then of course we go back once it is marked 50% off and get all the other goodies we were eyeing the first time through. Well, Maddie had recently been pushing around a box as her means to practice walking, so since we were going to the sale I thought I would look for some kind of walking toy for her. Well she was in luck! They had a pink “car” that she could walk with complete with steering wheel, keyboard, turn indicators etc., so obviously I snatched it up! She has really been enjoying it, and I enjoy watching her push this around instead of her little diaper box!

Happy Birthday Uncle Rick

Rick, Brian and Wayde all came down from W&L to have a little dinner/sleepover/party for Rick. I got two pix of the boys and then . . . my battery died. Lucky for all, they are both really good pictures!

And yes, Rick is borrowing Maddie’s cowgirl hat.

Swinging into March!

Since Maddie was feeling better today, her hives have gone down, and it was a pretty nice day out, we decided to venture back down to the playground and try out the swings again. We had gone two weeks ago, but Maddie was really fussy and definitely not into it. That night was when she was up all night burning up and she had an ear infection – who knew? Well this was how our swing session started . . .

Obviously loving it.


So we started to try and make a game out of it. Or, always a winner, I would pretend to sneeze and then push her. She got into it some, so back to the camera I went. The sun was so bright it was hard to even see if I was getting Maddie in the picture. When I scrolled through I saw some teddy bear ears so I figured I was good. Here is what we got (unedited) . . .

When we got home it was almost naptime so we took a few more pictures. She was wearing her really cute giraffe outfit that she got from the Longworth's for Christmas – so we had to snap a few.

Connect the dots

Last week I posted how Maddie had another ear infection. I say another, her first she had when she was seven months and now she is eleven, so it’s not like they are one after another. So back onto amoxicillin she went. That pink stuff goes down like a charm. All was fine and dandy for the 10 days that she was on it. Then came day 11 – all of a sudden, literally, Maddie started having little bumps on her hands and legs. When we changed her into her PJs that night she had hives on the insides of her legs. Poor thing! She has been taking some Benadryl to help with them but she really doesn’t seem to be too phased by it all. I was so excited for Sunday because I was going to dress Maddie in her new cute spring smocked dress and take some pictures. Well she wore the dress plus a ton of new hives that showed up on her arms, legs and face! At church we kept having to tell people “no, don’t worry its just an allergic reaction,” so that people wouldn't think I am parading my child around with chicken pox or something.

I still did take some pictures because she just looked so stinking cute! I love this dress!


Secretly I was hoping, prior to the spots, that I would be able to get some birthday card photos out of this. But, according to the pediatrician, these hives are going to be around for another week or so so I will have to find some other goodies to use. Like I said though, she is still in such good spirits but I can’t help but feel bad when I see her little spotted face!

Last night the hives on the inside of her legs were the size of quarters, I kid you not, they were huge. Hopefully tomorrow they will have gone down some. They are just big and red splotches on her teeny, tiny, little “powerful legs!”
